January 2010
Dear Parents,
Our annual Student Talent Show will be held on Friday, February 19th at 1:30 PM. Applications are attached and have been distributed to each classroom. If your child is interested in trying out for the talent show, we ask that you discuss this concept with your child before completing an application. Be sure your child has a plan that will be appropriate for our school, keeping in mind we are a Christian School. Often a child becomes caught up in the anticipation of the “idea” of performing without thinking about the reality of performing before an audience. Students will need to be willing to practice independently in order to be fully prepared for the show. All participants will try out on January 29th at 3:30 PM. We will notify your child of his or her tryout date after the applications have been reviewed. Following are specific guidelines to assist your child in preparing for the tryouts.
- All applications must be returned by Tuesday, January 26th . Please return your application to Ms. Phillips or to your teacher. If you lose your application, you may ask for another one, but applications will not be accepted after January 26th. All song lyrics must be approved before tryouts. There will be no lip syncs.
- When you are notified of your tryout date, be prepared on that date. Practice before you come. Know what you are going to perform. Have all details in place and perform to the best of your ability. A permission form for trying out is attached.
- ALL AUDITIONS WILL BE CLOSED!!!
- Have all instruments, props, and music with you at the time of your tryout.
- Please come in your costume for your try out. If this is not possible, please come with a picture of your costume.
- All performances must be kept at a 2 minute maximum. All performers can only be in 1 act. If you are not well prepared, you may not be chosen. Participants will be expected to prepare on independently. Ms. Phillips will coordinate our 2010 production.
- Practice, practice, practice! Be ready. Do your best…and always smile!
- Remember, above all, this experience is part of your life long learning. Even if you aren’t a finalist for the Talent Show, you will gain experience, knowledge, confidence, and you will be proud that you gave it your best!
Good Luck to All of You!
